There is no denying it: Donald Trump’s election is a threat to the future of our planet, the safety of our communities, and the health of our families. If the policies he proposed on the campaign trail are implemented, they will destroy our climate, decimate our jobs and livelihoods, and undermine the civil rights and liberties won in many hard fought battles.
It’s up to us to stop that from happening before it starts.
Facing the looming threat of a President who denies the reality of climate change, and openly attacks women, people of color, immigrants, Muslims, people with disabilities, LGBTQ people, workers, and so many more, we need to act together and make it clear that we will not stand for any attempts to undermine the fight for justice.
Our fights are tied together, and we will only succeed together. That’s why, from now, to the first 100 hours of the Trump Presidency, to the first 100 days and beyond, we are taking action and standing up for everything and everyone we love.
In September of 2014, hundreds of thousands of us took to the streets of New York City for the People’s Climate March and demanded that President Barack Obama take action for climate justice before it was too late. Workers, students, human rights leaders, frontline communities, indigenous heroes: we acted together to send a message so powerful and unified the world could not ignore it. And neither could President Obama. He listened, and he began to lead.
Now, Donald Trump is taking office as the only climate denying world leader and threatening to throw all that progress away.
We’re ready to fight back. That’s why the People’s Climate Movement is seizing the first 100 days of the Trump Administration as our own and putting all of our energy toward stopping Trump and Congress’ attacks on our climate, our communities, and our jobs and advance our vision of new American economy that protects our planet and people.
On the first day of the new Trump administration, we will speak truth to power to our leaders – that climate change is real, that front-line communities are under attack and that communities of color, workers, women, Muslims, and immigrants will not stand aside while our rights are taken away.
During the first 100 hours, the People’s Climate Movement is calling for hundreds of actions around the country. In every corner of the nation, we will be in the offices, meetings rooms, and the halls of power to fight back. We will not allow climate deniers to threaten the planet. We will not allow attacks on immigrants, communities of color, women, LGBTQ and workers to become the new normal.
Just before the 100th day of his administration, on Saturday, April 29th, we will come together for one massive march to bring our demands to the streets of Washington, D.C. We will march for our families. We will march for our air, our water, and our land. We will march for clean energy jobs and climate justice. We will march for our communities and the people we love. And we will be louder and stronger than ever before.
Join us. We’re counting on you.
